What this is

Friends on Itineru are the people you plan things with. Once you are connected, you can invite them to a trip, and see each other's Atlas.

Getting there

Tap the plus button, then Friends. It is also a tile on the Atlas.

The three lists

  • All - the people you are friends with.
  • Requests - people who have asked to be friends with you. Accept or decline.
  • Sent - requests you have sent that have not been answered yet.

Adding a friend

There are two ways.

  • Search. Search for someone by name or username. If they are on Itineru, tap Add and a request goes out. Once they accept, you are friends.
  • Invite. If they are not on Itineru yet, send them an invitation by email.

Removing a friend

Swipe their name in the list and tap Remove.

Sharing an itinerary

Open an itinerary and use the share button. It sends a summary of the itinerary through whichever apps you normally share with.

The person you send it to does not need an Itineru account to read it.

Sharing a trip with the people on it

That is different from sharing a summary. To let someone actually see and edit the plan, invite them to the trip as an Editor or a Viewer. See Collections and trips.

They need to be your friend on Itineru first.

Sharing your Atlas

Open the Atlas and tap the share button. It sends a picture of your map. See The Atlas.

What friends can see about you

You decide. Under Profile, then Settings, then Social and Privacy, you can set:

  • your profile visibility: Public, Friends, or Private,
  • whether friends can see the countries you have visited,
  • whether friends can see your travel activity.

Turn any of it off and it stays off.
