The Atlas

What this is

The Atlas is your map of the world with the countries you have been to filled in. It is a quiet record of where you have got to, not a scoreboard.

Getting there

Tap the plus button, then Atlas.

The map opens on the standard map style, with your visited countries shaded. At the top you can see how many countries you have visited. Tap that to see the list.

Adding a country

Tap the plus button on the map and choose the country.

Tap the country count at the top to open the list of everywhere you have been. From that list you can edit the date you visited each country, so it reads as a history rather than a pile.

The photo scan

If you would rather not add fifty countries by hand, Itineru can work them out from your photo library.

Tap the camera button on the map.
Choose a privacy mode.
Tap Start Scan.

No photos are uploaded. Itineru reads the location data attached to your photos, and nothing else.

### The two privacy modes

Countries and heat map - the coordinates are saved, so Itineru can draw a heat map of everywhere you have been, not just which countries.
Countries only - the coordinates never leave your phone. Only the list of countries is kept.

Pick the second if you would rather keep the detail to yourself. The choice is yours and it is honoured.

### Scanning again

By default a scan only looks at photos it has not seen before. If you want it to go back over your whole library, turn on Rescan all photos before you start.

The heat map

If you chose "Countries and heat map", you can turn the heat map on and off. Tap the settings button on the map, then the heat map switch.

Changing how the map looks

Tap the settings button on the map. From there you can:

turn the heat map on or off,
change the palette the visited countries are shaded in,
change the map style. There are four: Standard, Dark, Pencil and Blueprint. Standard is the default.

Your friends' maps

Tap the people button to switch to the friends overlay. It shows where your friends have been alongside where you have been.

Tap the same button again to go back to your own Atlas.
