Terms of Service

1. Service Overview

Itineru provides AI-powered travel planning tools including walking tours, road trips, audio guides, a Scratch Map of visited countries, friends and shared trip collections, expense tracking, and travel safety advisories. Features may be updated, modified, replaced, or rate-limited as we improve the service.

Some features rely on optional permissions you grant on your device — location, microphone (for voice trip input), photo library, and notifications. You can grant or revoke these at any time in your device settings; revoking a permission may disable the feature it supports.

By using the app you agree to receive important service notifications, security updates, and optional product announcements (which you can disable in Settings).

2. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your region — for example, 16 in parts of the EU) to use Itineru. You are responsible for the accuracy of information in your profile and for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.

You may sign in with email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Google. You agree not to share your account, sell access, or create multiple accounts to abuse free credits.

We may suspend or terminate accounts if we detect suspicious activity, misuse of AI features, harassment of other users, or violations of applicable law.

3. Generated Routes & Audio Tours

AI-generated suggested routes, walking tours, road trips, and audio narration are provided for planning inspiration only. Always verify opening times, accessibility, local advisories, and safety conditions before visiting a destination.

Suggested walking directions, driving routes, or estimated durations are approximations based on third-party mapping data. You are solely responsible for obeying traffic laws and local regulations.

AI-generated suggestions and audio narration may occasionally contain inaccuracies, outdated facts, or names pronounced incorrectly. We continuously monitor and improve content quality, but cannot guarantee complete accuracy of any generated itinerary or narration.

3a. Route Safety & Assumption of Risk

All routes, waypoints, and destination suggestions generated by Itineru are AI-generated suggestions — not verified safe passages. The app does not assess, monitor, or guarantee the real-time safety of any neighbourhood, street, path, or location included in a suggested route.

Itineru does not evaluate local crime conditions, infrastructure hazards, weather, lighting, crowd density, or any other factor that may affect your personal safety. Neighbourhood safety conditions change frequently and the app's information may not reflect current conditions.

You must exercise your own independent judgment about personal safety when following any suggested route, especially in unfamiliar areas. We strongly recommend consulting local authorities, your accommodation provider, and official government travel advisories before exploring any destination.

You acknowledge and agree that:

(a) You assume all risks associated with following suggested routes, visiting suggested locations, and acting on AI-generated recommendations;

(b) You will not rely solely on the app for navigation or safety decisions;

(c) You are responsible for assessing whether any suggested route or location is appropriate for your personal circumstances, including time of day, group size, and local conditions.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Itineru shall not be liable for any personal injury, theft, property damage, or other loss arising from following suggested routes or visiting suggested locations. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Australian Consumer Law).

If you encounter a safety concern on a suggested route, please report it immediately using the "Report Safety Concern" feature in the app or by contacting support@itineru.app. We take all safety reports seriously and will review them promptly.

3b. Travel Advisories & Health Information

Travel advisory information, safety scores, and destination warnings shown in the app are aggregated from public sources and AI summarisation. They are not a substitute for official government travel advisories. Always consult the authoritative source for your country before travelling, including (but not limited to):

Itineru does not provide medical, immigration, vaccination, or visa advice. Always consult a qualified professional for those matters.

4. Subscriptions, Credits & Billing

Itineru offers a free tier (Explorer) and a paid subscription (Itineru+). Free plans provide access to manual tour creation. Itineru+ unlocks AI-powered walking tours, road trips, audio narration, and premium map features.

Pricing & Billing Period: the current price and billing period (monthly or annual) are shown on the in-app subscription screen prior to purchase. Prices are charged in your local currency and may include applicable taxes.

Auto-Renewal: Itineru+ subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple ID or Google Play account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price.

Managing & Cancelling: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings (iPhone: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; Android: Google Play → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.

Restore Purchases: If you reinstall the app or switch devices, use "Restore Purchases" in Settings → Subscription to recover your active subscription. Subscription state is managed via RevenueCat.

Price Changes: We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

Credits have no cash value, may be adjusted, and reset according to the billing cycle displayed in Settings → Subscription.

5. Location, Privacy & Data

Itineru only uses your location when you explicitly enable it for route planning, turn-by-turn navigation, or location-based audio narration during an active tour. You can manage profile visibility, shared countries, and activity logs within Settings → Privacy.

Voice input is captured only while you are actively pressing the voice-input button and is transcribed using your device’s built-in speech recognition. We do not record continuous background audio.

Aggregated analytics, crash reports, and anonymised usage metrics help us improve route quality and audio performance. See our Privacy Policy for the full list of processors and what each one receives. We never sell your personal data.

6. Social Features & Shared Trip Collections

Itineru includes social features: friend requests, profile visibility controls, and shared trip collections that multiple users can edit together.

Conduct: you agree not to harass other users, post unlawful or hateful content, impersonate another person, attempt to access another user’s account, or use the friends system to spam or scrape contacts. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate this policy.

Shared Collections: when you accept an invite to a collection, the collection owner and other members can see content you add to it. The collection owner controls membership and may remove members or delete the collection at any time. Removing yourself from a collection revokes your access but does not delete content other members have already saved or copied.

Reporting: use the in-app report option or email support@itineru.app to report abusive content or behaviour. You can also block another user to prevent further requests.

7. Expense Tracking

Itineru’s expense tracker is provided for personal record-keeping only. It does not constitute financial, tax, accounting, or investment advice, and we make no guarantee about the accuracy of currency conversions or budget calculations. You are responsible for keeping authoritative records of your finances.

8. Third-Party Services

The app integrates mapping, AI, voice synthesis, speech recognition, image, payment, and cloud services from third-party providers (named in the Privacy Policy). Continued access to these services is subject to their respective terms, quotas, and availability.

You agree not to extract bulk data, resell or relicense generated itineraries, reverse engineer AI-generated content, use the service to train competing AI models, or interfere with rate limits imposed by any integrated provider.

Service disruptions or changes to third-party APIs may temporarily affect feature availability. We are not liable for third-party service outages or changes to their terms.

9. Feedback & Communications

We welcome bug reports, feature requests, and UX feedback via the in-app Help Center. Submitting feedback grants Itineru an irrevocable, royalty-free right to use that input to improve the product without obligation to you.

We may contact you for research interviews or early access to new features. Participation is optional.

10. Updates & Termination

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Material changes will be highlighted in-app or delivered via email before they become effective.

You may stop using the app at any point and request deletion of your account data via Settings → Data Management. Data is removed from active systems within 30 days of confirmation; encrypted backups are purged within a further 60 days. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or applicable law.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Itineru and its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to: loss of data, loss of profits, personal injury, property damage, or reliance on AI-generated content.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Itineru in the 12 months preceding the claim, or AUD $100, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12. Governing Law & Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New South Wales, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction require otherwise.
